Joint village land use planning secures over 95,000 hectares of grazing lands for livestock keepers in Tanzania’s Kiteto District

The Sustainable Rangeland Management Project (SRMP) has helped secure 95,499.869 hectares of grazing land for livestock in Kiteto district, Manyara region. Maps of livestock routes show the way to improved livelihoods for pastoralists in East Africa

Livestock routes are essential to herders in eastern Africa, who use them to access water, feed and markets. But, political and economic marginalization is putting pressure on the natural resources pastoralists rely on, causing conflicts and loss of value.
