In early September, New Delhi, India hosted the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 14). The ILC Rangelands Initiative partners and projects featured strongly in the events taking place and publications released.
The Woreda participatory land use planning (WPLUP) manual was developed through a consultative process involving government experts, researchers, practitioners, and communities. A piloting of the manual was done in Chifra, Afar and Shinile in Ethiopia’s Somali Region.
The International Land Coalition’s biennial Global Land Forum (GLF) took place in Dakar, Senegal on 12-14 May 2015. At the meeting, the ILC Global Rangelands Initiative, which is coordinated and technically supported ILRI and RECONCILE, discussed ways of making rangelands more secure.
